The residents, the police discuss the latest crimes in Kansas City's Northland

Kansas City, Mon.-Am April 23, 17-year-old Charles Sanders was shot on April 23 in the front garden of a house in front of the Northeast 7th Court, not far from the Northeast Shoal Creek Parkway.

The Kansas City police say that a deal with one or more suspects has led to the shootout.

A week after Sanders' death, racist and anti -Semitic flyers were discovered near the same neighborhood. Since then, the neighbors have teamed up in North Brook to spread friendliness and remain united.

“I think it has brought out the worst but also the best,” said Tom Loudon, a resident nearby.

Loudon was one of several who took part in a meeting in a packed room in the Shoal Creek Patrol Division on Wednesday.

“I appreciate the work that KCPD does and I am grateful for this opportunity,” he said.

The meeting offered the community the opportunity to ask questions and to see their experiences from the officials.

“We cannot answer everything for you, but we can feel safe, and that helps us to recognize in return that we are doing something so that you feel safer in your neighborhood,” said Major Justin Kobolt.

The police say that they could not give any specific details at this point, but also said during the meeting that detectives will pursue all the information in the case of murder and work with the public prosecutor.

Fox4 learned that the regional fusion center of Kansas City, a federal partnership, helps to investigate the hated flyers. They want the residents of the area to come forward when they have a footage that shows how the flyers got there.

At this point, no arrests were made in both cases. You can check the social media of KCPD to see when a crime meeting will take place in your neighborhood.
