Voice of America to get feeds from the Pro Trump network, says Administration, says Administration

Voice of America, a international news channels funded by the USA, which was subdued by the Trump administration in March, may sound very different if it returns to the air.

Kari Lake, the former news anchor, which President Trump held responsible for revising the Voice of America, said on Tuesday that he would be fed with content from an America News Network or a Pro-Trump television channel that increased the falsehood of the 2020 presidential election.

Ms. Lake, who carried out unsuccessful campaigns for governors and Senator in Arizona in recent years, said OAN offered to provide Voice of America and another American supported outlet, the Cuba Broadcasting office. In a statement on social media, she described the agreement “enormous benefits for the American taxpayer”.

“I have no editorial control over the content of VOA and OCB programming, but I can make sure that our outlets have reliable and credible options to create your reporting and news programs,” said Ms. Lake and used acronyms for Voice of America and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting.

Patsy Widakuswara, a former boss of the White House of the White House, which was put on vacation, said she was concerned about the development.

“We worked so hard to build trust in our brand,” she said. “These are 83 years of good journalism that is destroyed.”

The Voice of America was founded in 1942 to combat Nazispropaganda, and has brought into the corners of the world for a long time, where reliable journalism is scarce.

In March, Mr. Trump granted an executive order to reduce the US agency for global media, the Congress Agency, the Voice of America and has effectively closed the news agency. The President accused the broadcaster of preparing prejudices against him and described him as the “voice of the radical America”. The approximately 1,300 Voice of America workers were sent home.

The broadcaster's journalists then sued and said that Mr. Trump was not entitled to withdraw the funds approved by the congress.

A federal judge in Washington set up with the reporters and ordered the Trump government to bring programs back.

An appealing committee seemed to make the matter more difficult at the weekend and to reverse parts of the arrangement of the plain in which the Trump government restored the financing. However, the panel has left the requirement that Voice of America revives programming.

It is not clear how many Voice of America reporters will return after the court decisions.

“Some have already returned,” said Ms. Lake on Tuesday evening in an e -mail. “Some will return in the future.”

She declined to continue commenting.

Around 15 employees have been hired in the past few days, said Ms. Widakuswara, who did not belong to them.

Grant Turner, who acted as the managing director of Voice of America's mother agency during the first Trump administration, said that moving to add OAN content would violate a legal requirement that the broadcaster was “exactly, objective and comprehensive”.

He predicted that the OAN content would not land well with the foreign audience.

“You know how real fake news sounds,” said Mr. Turner about Voice of American's listener and added: “You want something that is real.”
