An employee of the La Entrada Middle School was fatally hit by a vehicle when he ran to work on the bike yesterday, according to news that was sent to the parents.

Dylan Taylor, paraeducator in the Schlüchtzirk Las Lomitas, was remembered by Superintendent Erik Burmeister as someone who really loved his job and enjoyed the students.

Burmeister said Taylor's death was “heartbreaking” because he was excited that he was expanding his effects on the students of Las Lomitas.

Taylor started in La Entrada this school year, but had previously worked in Menlo Park City School District, where Burmeister was superintendent from 2017 to 2022.

The 30-year-old Taylor was athletics coach on the Menlo Aterton High School and grew up in the area.

According to the police, Taylor was approached by a vehicle near Encinal Avenue and the Middlefield Road in Atherton at 7:40 a.m. The crash occurred near the Encinal Elementary School and the MA. According to San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucault, Taylor was brought to Stanford Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The accident caused the police to close the area.

The police closed the Middlefield Road from Encinal Avenue and James Avenue due to a “traffic collision” without saying that someone had died.

The road was reopened around 1 p.m. and asked the people to avoid the area and the drivers to use alternative routes.

The crisis consultants were in La Enterada yesterday and will be on site again today, said Burmeister.

Paige Winikoff, CEO of Las Lomitas, said this was the second death of the district, but did not disclose the other loss.

Winikoff said Taylor's importance for the community could be measured by how the community reacted.
