The latest British and Irish Lions squad is to be named today.

Head coach Andy Farrell is expected to reveal a group of 37 to 40 players this afternoon to drive to Australia this summer to a 10-game tour that includes three tests against Wallabies in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Things are made a little different this year, with the squad announced for the first time in front of a lot of more than 2,000 fans at a special event in Indigo in the O2 Arena in London.

Maro Itoje is expected to be appointed English Lions captain since Martin Johnson in 2001. Caelan Doris's main competitor, Caelan Doris, may now be looking for the entire tour after the operation had played the game for Leinster last weekend due to a shoulder injury last weekend.

There are some surprises and curve balls from Ireland head coach Farrell, which served on both Lions tours from 2013 and 2017 as an assistant by Warren Gatland.

One of the biggest discussion points is probably the status of Henry Pollock, Northampton and England's self-confident and all-action-young rear row, which, after some unheard of recent appearances for Saints, including Leinster, has long since become the favorite election of everyone's preferred election.
