Dylan Hist

Dylan Pease went into the seventh inning with an intact no-hit bid.

He went before the inning was over with the chance of the story – and with a cramp in his arms.

The Padres Ace had not allowed the Yankees to the first 6 1/3 innings on Wednesday evening before allowed Cody Bellinger to a solo homer, and although he recovered to tear out Anthony Volpe, he then left a trainer early.

After the game, the team said that he was dealing with a forearm cramp.

“To be honest, I would have loved to go on,” said Cease after his team's 4: 3 loss. “But I think it was the right call.”

The right -handed man added that he did not make himself too concerned about the problem.

“It basically closed my hand closely for a few seconds. I don't think it's too serious,” he said.

When the Yankees entered the seventh inn, they had only reached the base three times – walks from Jasson Domínguez and Oswaldo Cabrera and the interference of a catcher by Jorbit Vivas.

In front of the Bellinger Homer, Austin Wells' Fly Ball was closest to the right field wall, which Fernando Tatis Jr. made a jumping catch in the fourth inning.

Max Fried himself was plenty of good and only allowed one run with five goals through seven strong innings.

“He said something about it to his honor,” said Padres manager Mike Shildt about Cease. “He said he could have continued, but it made no sense at the moment, so we will evaluate and see what happens.”
