The Rods' Hunter Greene gives the start against Braves after 3 Innerings with groin injury

Cincinnati Reds Starter Hunter Greene left the start on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves with a right groin injury after warming up for the fourth inning.

Since the red in Atlanta led 4-0, Greene prepared on the bottom of the fourth when he threw a warm -up place into the ground and called the shelter. The right -hander then left and was replaced by the left -handed Brent Suter.

Greene, who spread six and gave up two goals without allowing a run in three innings, was optimistic after the 4: 3 victory of the Reds. But he only wanted to speculate about his return to the hill after his expected MRI on Thursday in Atlanta.

“Hopefully I don't have to miss a start, but I don't know what the future has about it,” said Greene in an interview with the television post game.

Greene said he had no pain in his groin area until warming up in front of the fourth inning.

“These first two warm -up parking spaces, I only felt my groin area,” said Greene. “(I) didn't feel that I would be of my best or would be able to hold the team honestly and continue to throw when I stay in.”

Greene was an all-star for the first time last season and was even better this year. The 25-year-old is 4-2 with an ERA of 2.36.

Greene missed more than a month with the right elbow pain last season. He missed two months with hip pain in 2023.

This setback could test the start depth of the red, which was previously a strength. The Reds competed on Wednesday with an ERA of 3.63 ERA from their starters, the fifth best brand in the National League.

If Greene cannot make his next start, the most likely replacement of the right -handers Petty would be.

Petty, 22, made his debut in the big league last week in the second game of a double header against the St. Louis Cardinals and gave up nine runs in just 2 1/3 innings. Petty followed this start with six no-hit inside for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. It is 1-2 with an ERA of 2.79 and 35 strike outs in six starts for the bats this season.

Carson Spiers, who was in rotation at the beginning of the season, is on the injured list with a right -wing shoulder. He should hold another exam on Wednesday. Rhett Lowder, who debuted last season and went 2-2 with an ERA of 1.17 in six starts, started the season on the IL with the right elbow complaints. Lowder started his first rehabilitation start on Tuesday in the Arizona Complex League, where he went three in our inners and allowed two runs in one defeat. It is scheduled to start on Sunday for High-A Dayton. The experienced calf Miley will probably start on Saturday for Dayton. On April 27, he left a rehabilitation start with a groin injury and will start his first start since then.

It is not just the pitching staff of the red, which are tested with injuries. On Wednesday, the Red Noelvi Marte brought the third Baseman to the injured list with a left sloping slanting. On Tuesday, the team put the Rookie Tyler Callihan on the IL after breaking his right forearm. The outfield Austin Hays went to the IL on Friday with a left thigh tribes. In addition, Outfield Jake Fraley had an MRI on the left calf and was not available on Wednesday.
