The water was located by gaps in the glass roof at the newly opened Terminal 3 of the International Airport Nhat in Hochi -Minh -City Tan Son Nhat, which led to flooding during a heavy rash on Wednesday afternoon.

In a video circulating on social media, water showed that escaped through the roof of the terminal and creates puddles on the ground when the employees tried to contain the situation with buckets and pugs. The incident occurred in the waiting hall near a departure gate.

A representative of the Terminal Construction Management team confirmed the leak and attributed it to gaps in the sealant around the skylight of the glass, causing water to penetrate during the earthen gas.

The staff of the Airport Tan Son Nhat cleans the floor of Terminal 3 after a water leak from the roof in the afternoon of May 7, 2025 in a quiet picture that was extracted from a video circulating on social media.

According to the representative, which did not want to be named, HCMC had experienced a longer heat in front of the rainstorm, which expanded the roof structure. When the heavy rain suddenly hit, the integrity of the sealant had an impact.

The representative also explained that the terminal had been completed before the schedule and that no thorough weather tests in the real world had been through, which contributed to this topic.

“This is a small incident and not because of the poor construction quality,” said the source and added that the faulty sealant was replaced to prevent future leaks.

Terminal 3 started operating on April 17 and is currently the largest domestic terminal in Vietnam, which can work on up to 20 million passengers per year. The opening increased the annual passenger capacity of Tan Son Nhat to 50 million.

The project of 11 trillion and ($ 432 million) is managed by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), a state company that operates all 22 trading ports across the country.

Domestic flights from Vietnam Airlines, which connect HCMC with Hanoi and van Don, are now working on the new terminal.

Several districts of HCMC, including Go Vap, Tan Binh, District 12 and Thu Duc City, met strong rain on Wednesday around 6:00 p.m., which led to difficulties and resolutions.
