Average queries set a variety of factors, including the topicality and sample size of a survey, regardless of whether a survey represents all adults, registered voters or likely voters and whether other surveys have shifted since a survey.

Exames that meet at least two of the following three criteria are viewed as “selected survey participants” as long as they carry out surveys for impartial sponsors. Has a success story of accuracy in the last electionsIs a member of a professional election organizationConsidering probability base sample

These elements take into account how much weight each survey receives on average. Surveys carried out by or for partisan organizations are identified because they often publish results that are only favorable for their causes. The margins are calculated using unknown voting stocks, if available. Read more about our methodology.

In cooperation with Siena College, the Times carries out its own national and state surveys. These surveys are included in the average values. Follow Times/Siena surveys here.
