Oklahoma City (AP) -The Oklahoma City Thunder presented an NBA playoff record for the first semi-finals with 87 against Denver Nuggets in game 2 of her Western Conference semi-final on Wednesday evening.

Oklahoma City exceeded the previous record of 86 from the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Golden State Warriors in game 4 of the NBA final on June 9, 2017. Chet Holmgren, who missed two critical free throws late in game 1, made a couple with a second rest to set up the record.

The thunder combined the record for points in half a playoff game on the way to winning 149-106. Milwaukee had 87 against Denver on April 23, 1978 in the second half.

The Thunder scored 58.8% out of the field and turned 17 out of 18 free throws to make a lead of 87-56 during the break. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander carried the way with 18 points. All five Thunder starters scored in two figures in the first half.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the thunder with 34 points and eight templates in three quarters.

Oklahoma City was the first team to achieve two victories with at least 40 points in a post -season. The thunder rolled in game 1 of her first series in Memphis 131-80.

“This is a team that does it,” said Denver Interim coach David Adelman. “There is a reason why you have historical plus minus numbers throughout the season.

It was a dramatic change compared to Denvers 121-119 victory in game 1. Thunder coach Mark Daignault said that his team looked sharper and used to have learned more about the nuggets.

“I didn't look at such a answer as much tonight as I looked at this evening when we are who we are, and so we were all the season,” said Daignault. “We don't really react to the last game. If we win, we no longer have confidence. If we lose, we no longer have an urgency. I think this team has a really good baseline to which we only try to return every day when the sun appears and we have a game. And I thought that was tonight.”
