Pilot and anchorage residents killed in the case of a small commercial crash near the Näisfalek Airport

According to the authorities, the crash of a small commercial flight on the Kenai Peninsula on Monday killed the pilot and a 38-year-old Anchorage resident.

Another male passenger was involved in an anchorage hospital with serious injuries, said Alaska State Troopers in an update on Tuesday.

The operator of the planned flight from Homer to Närsek was Smokey Bay Air, an air service in Homer. According to Clint Johnson, head of the National Transportation Safety Board, the crash occurred in the landing.

The soldiers identified the pilot on Tuesday as a 48-year-old Homer resident Daniel Bunker and the passenger as a 37-year-old Anchorage resident Jenny Miller.

The crash was reported on Monday shortly before 2 p.m. over several 911 calls for an airplane crash in Närpalek near the airport, said Trooper. The agency reacted to the scene as local first aiders and volunteers “began to evaluate the three adults on the plane and to provide medical help,” they said.

The male passenger, who was not identified, was flown before anchorage.

An NTSB investigator flew on Monday with soldiers with the soldiers in Närzalek. The agency begins an examination of the crash.

Nanwalek is a municipality of around 200 inhabitants on the Southern Kenai peninsula near the mouth of the Cook Inlet. The curved runway The gravel airport is notoriously challenging, with only 850 feet being considered usable.

Guardian Flight, Lifemed Alaska, Maritime helicopter, the US Coast Guard and the State Park Rangers helped to rescue and react to the crash, said Troopers.
