Eleven children who are secured in the procedure of organized crime

The police in Scotland initiated the security measures for 11 children from a Scottish crime gang.

The young people were handed over to the care of family members or referred to social services as part of a two -year police operation to reduce the Scottish drug trade gang.

The surgical intensity that started in May 2023 has made about 100 arrests, confiscated more than 200 kg (£ 441) illegal drugs and took three firearms from the street.

The force said that the gang organized crime, which aimed at it, operated across the country in areas, including Dumfries, Ayrshire and the central belt.

With regard to the intensity of the operation, the Force said that couriers were traveling by car to run drug trafficking, which were then reused from safe houses.

As part of the two -year operation, a total of 46 search commands were executed and led to large quantities of drugs, including cocaine, heroin and ecstasy.

More than £ 600,000 in cash and firearms were also recovered, with the near 100 arrests took place in both rural and urban areas.

Det SUP Stevie Elliot said: “This operation is a clear example of how we use our national resources alongside the knowledge of our local police teams to reduce large gangs across the country.

“Our strategy was to maximize the security of the public and to protect people in need of protection, especially children and young people who are all too often forced and maintained by drug dealers.

“Organized criminal gangs show no shame or regrets for their actions, and all their activities focus on benefiting from exploitation.”

He added: “These arrests and seizures underline our commitment to combating organized networks in Scotland. Illegal substances cause real damage and misery.”
