“We are not waiting for crimes to be reported” – Bossiernow

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office published its first intermediate crime report in the first four months of the year.

Sheriff Julian Whitington Traditionally, the crime reports annually, but crime statistics for the non -legal areas of the Bossier Parish until April 30, 2025 were published on Wednesday.

A recently published report on crime was denied by the sheriff as “not the whole story”.

In this new report, the Sheriff emphasized the proactive approach of the department: “We do not wait for crimes to be reported that we will continue to be actively and aggressively looking for criminals before they can harm others. Our citizens expect security and we are obliged to deliver them.”

According to the report, Bossier Parish saw in the first four months of 2025:

  • Zero
  • Zero robberies
  • The index of the violent crime is still stable, “shows a modest increase of 3%, which is mainly due to minor rise applications in the event of attack and intimidation cases”.
  • Real estate crimes: 13% decrease
  • Car theft: 64% drop
  • General theft: 5% down
  • Burglary: 29% decline
  • Rape reports: a decline in 6%

“This underlines several promising developments in the landscape of public security of the municipality and strengthens its reputation as one of the safest and fastest growing communities in Louisiana,” said BPSO in a press release. “Sheriff Julian Whitington has attributed proactive police strategies and community partnerships for the positive results.”

Whitington said that the department uses a “forward -looking strategy” and he has used special units that aim at certain criminal threats.

“These units have the task of identifying and arresting children's pain, sexual offenders, drunk drivers and drug amplifiers who reflect a zero tolerance guideline towards such crimes. Continuous investigations, surveillance and public relations help prevent crime,” added the explanation.

The Sheriff's office also attributed the commitment of the community, neighborhood observation programs and the improved technology to pursue and prevent criminal activities in the community.
