CJI requests the resignation of Justice Varma in the middle of the money scandal

In a significant development within the Indian judiciary, Sanjiv Khanna Chief Justice of India (CJI) applied for the resignation of Justice Yashwant Varma to justify the allegations in which Varma's residence was found. Despite this request, Justice Varma refused to step down, which led to a further examination of the situation.

On May 8, 2025, the CJI forwarded the results of a three -member examination committee to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The committee was founded on March 22, 2025 after reports on Burnt Cash had arisen after a fire incident on March 14. Justice Varma was only broadcast by the Supreme Court of Delhi a few days earlier, March 20, and on April 5th, as a judge at the Allahabad High Court.
