Live updates: Trump to make trade agreements known to Great Britain

The European Union is looking for feedback to the public for a list of US imports that could hit it with higher tariffs if the ongoing trade talks fail with the United States.

The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, announced on Thursday that the listed list of imported from the USA, worth a total of € 95 billion (107 billion US dollars), covers a wide range of industrial and agricultural products.

Anyone who could be affected can give feedback to the Commission in the next four weeks until June 10th.

“Since the United States has imposed its unjustified and harmful tariffs, the EU has prioritized a solution that is beneficial and balanced for both sides through negotiations,” said the Commission in a statement that potential countermeasures are being prepared “if they do not provide a satisfactory result”.

At the beginning of this year, President Donald Trump announced 25% taxes for all imports of steel, aluminum, cars and car parts and met the EU with 20% “mutual” tariffs for all other goods – although the latter were temporarily reduced to 10%, according to new tariffs for practically all of them.

Last month, the EU said that it would impose retaliation tariffs when talking to the USA about their tariffs. These planned countermeasures were a reaction to the steel and aluminum tariffs.
