Who is Fidji Simo? Carrier later, education and recognition

Fidji Simo is a woman of French-American origin. It is the CEO of Openai applications, which was recently discontinued in May 2025. This must not be confused with the fact that the CEO of Openai Sam Altman is. Simo was stopped for the application section and will report Sam Altman. It is very popular in the world of technology and management for its reputation to expand the strategies of prominent companies throughout their career.

Education and initiatives

Fidji Simo made a recording in her family by being the first person to complete the high school. She also has a master's degree in management of HEC Paris in Paris, France. For the last year of her program, she opted for the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Simo co -founded a health clinic and a research institute called Metrodora Institute. She is currently President of the Metrodora Foundation. This facility helps with the treatment of chronic health states and offers help patients.

career

eBay (2007–2011)

Fidji Simo started her career on Ebay. It was part of the strategy team, where she contributed to the development of local trade and classified advertising.

Facebook (2011–2021)

In 2011 Simo came to Facebook, the Meta, where she held several management positions over a decade. She acted as Vice President and Head of Facebook app, where she was responsible for monitoring important features such as news feed, stories, groups, video, marketplace, games, news, dating and ads. Her contribution was immense to monetize the mobile platform from Facebook, and was significantly involved in starting video products such as Facebook Live and Watch.

Instacart (2021-2025)

Simo came to Instacart's board in January 2021. It took 7 months in August 2021 to become CEO. She succeeded the founder Apoorva Mehta. She helped to expand through the delivery of food and started initiatives such as Instacart Health to promote a healthier lifestyle. It also led the company through the IPO in September 2023 and was appointed chairman of the board.

Openai (2024 – present)

SIMO was appointed as a member of the Openai board of directors in March 2024. In May 2025, CEO Sam Altman announced her appointment as CEO of applications, a newly created role that concentrated to judge Openas research through consumer applications for the public. It is expected to change her role on Instacart in the coming months and at the same time remains her chair.
