Watch Live: Trump expected to announce US UK trade agreements

Washington (AP) – The United States and Great Britain are expected to announce a trade agreement on Thursday, which will reduce the burden of President Donald Trump's extensive tariffs and achieves a political victory for the British Prime Minister Keir Starrer, with which Trump can also valid his turbulent approach for the international economy.

Trump is expected to make Edt an announcement at 10 a.m. Take a look at our video player at the top.

Trump has posted the truth on his social platform that the agreement will be “full and comprehensive”. No details were available, and it is more likely that the deal is limited to make certain sectors such as the automotive production tariff.

The US President should speak from the Oval Office at 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT), and Starrer will make his own announcement at about the same time.

It is the first bilateral trade agreement since Trump began his Stotterstep efforts to re -wire the global economy by dramatically increasing import taxes to increase domestic production. The Republican President initially announced extensive tariffs on April 2 and withdrew a week later and announced that his government would obtain individual agreements with different countries in the coming months.

With the largest trading partners of America, including Canada, Mexico and China, no new offers were achieved. Trump left the highest tariffs in China and triggers a confrontation between the two largest economies in the world. Washington and Beijing send officials to Switzerland this weekend to get a first round of trade talks.

Trump promised on Thursday that there are “many other shops that follow in serious phases of negotiations to follow!”

Strander, who spoke at a defense conference in London, said: “The talks with the USA have not yet been completed and you will hear more about it later today.”

The United States and the United Kingdom have had been in 2016 since the British people chose a bilateral trade agreement to leave the European Union and enables the country to negotiate the rest of the continent. The then Prime Minister Boris Johnson observed a future contract with the United States as an incentive for Brexit.

Negotiations began in 2020, while Trump's first term. However, the talks made little progress among President Joe Biden, a democrat and critic of Brexit. The negotiations were resumed after Trump returned to office in January and intensified in the past few weeks.

One main goal of the British negotiators was to reduce or increase the import tax for British cars and steel, which Trump set to 25 percent. The United States is the biggest goal for British cars, which, according to the Office for National Statistics, is more than a quarter of British autoXports in 2024.

Great Britain has also applied for tariffs for pharmaceuticals, while the United States wants to have greater access to the British market for agricultural products. The government of Starrer has declared that they will not lower the food standards in the UK to allow chlorine-torn American chicken or hormone-treated beef.

The British government will see a deal as a justification for Starer's Emollient -based approach for Trump, who has avoided direct confrontation or criticism. In contrast to the European Union, Great Britain did not announce any retaliation duties for US goods in response to Trump's import taxes.

A trade agreement with the United Kingdom would be symbolic and a relief for British exporters. However, an agreement would not help to address Trump's central concern about persistent trade deficits that prompted him to impose import taxes on countries around the world.

According to Census Bureau, the United States triggered a trade surplus of 11.9 billion US dollars near Great Britain with Great Britain last year. The 68 billion US dollars that the United States imported from Great Britain last year accounted for only 2 percent of all goods imported into the country.

The United States is much more important for the British economy. According to state statistics, it was the largest trading partner of the UK last year, although the majority of British exports to the United States are more services than goods.

Trump previously said that his influence on the talks would be US consumers, but he seemed to indicate that Britain would also buy more goods produced by America.

“I think the United Kingdom, like in any other country, … go shopping in the United States,” he said.

A trade agreement with the United States is one of several that the government of Starrer is trying to go on strike. On Tuesday, Great Britain and India announced a trade agreement after three years of negotiations. The United Kingdom also tries to raise some of the trade barriers with the EU that left the block in Great Britain in 2020.
