Beaufort man is guilty of driving-by shooting, in which the 5-year-old boy was killed

Jasper County, Ga. (WTOC)-A Beaufort man stands for a drive-by shootout 30 years ago that killed a 5-year-old boy.

On December 28, 2021, Jasper County's office replied to the Wagon Branch area about reports on a drive-by shootout.

According to the lawyer of the 14th Circuit, 5-year-old Deandre Robinson was shot through the shoulder and chest while he jumped on his bed in his house. Robinson's father was in the room at the time and crawled with his son to an area in the back of the house.

When the shots continued, Robinson's father found that his son had been shot. Robinson was taken to the hospital, but went into the cardiac arrest and died.

On May 8, 2025, 23-year-old Gregory Harris Scott owed the murder of Deandre Robinson. Scott was also guilty of adding a weapon to an apartment during the possession of a weapon during the possession of a violent crime and the dissolution of a firearm.

He was sentenced to 30 years.

Scott's sister, the 30-year-old Mittie Scott, was charged with the fact of murder and as an accessory after murder as an accessory. She lived next to the house in the wagon branch loop with Robinson's uncle.

No negotiation date was set for Mittie Scott.
