Lacrosse player at High School dies after an injury during the game

Bay Village, Ohio (Gray News) – A lacrosse player of the high school died after being critically injured in Ohio on Tuesday evening during a game.

Dylan Veselic, the Bay High School, suffered a head injury during an away game on Olmsted Falls High School, confirmed the district.

Witnesses announced WKYC that an Olmsted Falls player tried a shot when the ball hit Veselisch on the back of the head under his helmet.

According to Woio, Ems Veselic brought the game to a nearby hospital. He was then flown to a hospital in the city center with a medical helicopter in which he had an emergency operation.

The schools of the Bay Village shared the following explanation on behalf of the Veselische Family:

“With a heavy heart, the Viselian family shares the news that Dylan died of injuries during a lacrosse game. We are deeply touched by the overwhelming support and friendliness of our community and beyond. We ask you to keep our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.”

Scot Prebles, superintendent of the Bay Village City School District, said that the district delivers additional advisory services for students and employees.

“Dylan was a committed student and athlete, and we were broken by this loss with a heart. Our thoughts and prayers are at Dylan's family and friends during this time,” said Prebles in a statement.
