Atlanta Catholics clock

Buckhead, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The world watched the Vatican City with anticipation, and on Thursday afternoon, white smoke finally woke up from the Sistine Kapelleschornstein – from the signaled that a new pope was chosen.

In the cathedral of Christ of the King in Buckhead, the parishioners who had gathered at the lunch mass, expressed themselves with joy when the news broke. On the day of the morning mass, many parishioners came to think calmly and hoped for a sign of Rome.

“We take everything. We are watching everything,” said Cheryl Dacey, a member of the parish.

In the cathedral, Anbeter said that they felt mentally connected to the 133 cardinals in the Sistine chapel – especially Cardinal Wilton Gregory, the former archbishop of Atlanta.

“The only thing that would be better than observing it and feeling spiritually part of it would be there,” said Dacey.

The process was personal for Jillian Dacey.

“It is cool to see that someone who has confirmed me is now part of the conclave that helps with the selection of the next Pope,” she said. “We are all this church family and it really makes them feel part of it.”

Thousands gathered on the place of St. Peter and broke out into cheers when the white smoke appeared, which confirmed that the conclave had made a decision.

Many Catholics across Atlanta say that they rely on their faith and trust the Holy Spirit – not only for leadership in the election, but also if they now start to take the lead of the new Pope.

“I just really hope that the Holy Spirit runs the complain and that the one who is selected really knows that he has our love and support because it is a really difficult weight that you can safely wear,” said Jillian.

So far it is not clear when the conclave will announce who you have chosen – only increase the tradition and the pomp and the circumstance of the moment.
