Customers join together to stop the armed bank robbery in Baton Rouge | Crime/police

Two customers who were waiting in line in a Baton Rouge Bank on Thursday morning came together to defeat a man who came in with a pistol and asked for the police from Baton Rouge.

“The man came in with a gun and two good Samarita stopped,” said Lt. L'Ejan McKney Jr., police spokesman.

The thwarted robbery occurred on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in the region Bank on 3121 Sherwood Forest Boulevard when the suspect came in and focused on cashier.

The two customers “performed when he had a gun in his hand and started fighting him,” said McKney. “It was a violent fight, but they took it down and removed his gun from his hand.”

In the meantime, someone had made a call on the bank.

“The fight was still when police officers came in,” said McKney.

Other customers were in the bank at that time and some were still going into the building, which was not aware of the struggle inside.

The suspect received minor injuries in the fight and was arrested.

“No customers were injured,” said McKney. “We are blessed and happy for that.”

One of the good Samaritans made a career choice on Thursday morning.

“He put an application to the police and passed through the process to be an official,” said McKney.
