Score extends the support of the small businesses for veterans during the national military appreciation month

As part of the national military monthly appreciation month, Score, a non -profit organization that is dedicated to support for small companies, emphasizes their resources organized by veterans to help former service members with the successful start and growth of companies.

Veteran entrepreneurs show strong success rates

Veterans continue to show strong results as an entrepreneur. Of the 1.7 million veteran companies in the United States, 80 percent report that they are successful. According to the US small businesses, veteran companies have a five-year survival rate that is twice as high as that of their non-veteran colleagues.

Veterans have almost 2 million companies nationwide, employ over 5 million people and achieve annual sales of more than 1 trillion US dollar. Forty percent of veteran companies bring in more than $ 500,000 a year. In addition, veterans have 14 percent of the franchise companies and benefit from their ability to follow structured operational plans – an attribute that corresponds well with military training.

Mentoring increases the success rates

Score emphasizes the role of mentorship in entrepreneurial success. SBA data show that small business owners with established mentors have a success rate of 70 percent compared to 35 percent for those without.

The 10,000 mentors from Score are nationwide with the Veterans Small Business Resource GuideIncluding tools and instructions that are specially tailored for veterans. The guide covers business planning, financing, franchise ownership, the purchase of existing companies and access to the voluntary mentors of score as well as webinars and workshops to build business knowledge.

“Voluntary work at the score is my way of showing me to show my background and my experience with the success of the entrepreneur's success during my career,” said Ed Coleman, who with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Vice President of Score. “While I like to work with all the scores as a veteran of the US Army, I particularly like to work with veterans to translate their military experience into entrepreneurship. To help customers recognize their dreams is very gratifying and the essence of the scoring mission is.”

Veteran mentors serve those who pass to civilian life

Tim Hanlon, Chapter of the Southern Maryland from Score from Score, found that score mentors are actively adapting to the special needs of the transitional service members.

“The military transition from active service has different needs as civilians in relation to the establishment of a company,” said Hanlon. “It is wonderful that veteran resources help with the fingertips of our volunteers to look after our service men and women.”

Veterans make up about 10 percent of the client tribe of the score, which reflects the commitment of the non -profit organization for the support of military families and veterans during their entrepreneurial journey.
