Driver killed after the car fell into the water near Sonoma Raceway

A driver was killed on Thursday after his car from the Highway 37 near Sonoma Raceway had crashed and was dipped in water, said Chp.

A driver was killed on Thursday morning when his car decreased on Highway 37 near Sonoma Raceway and, according to the California Highway Patrol, landed under water.

The crash was registered at 10:31 a.m. on the eastern side of the highway, east of the Sears Point Road near Highway 121, said the CHP officer Alex Ochoa. At 10:52 a.m., the car was almost completely immersed in a nearby water.

The driver who seemed to be alone died at the scene. Her name was not published while officials notify the family.

It is not yet known what caused the crash or whether drugs or alcohol were involved, said Ochoa.

There were no road closures in the early afternoon. A serious towing car had been called to the scene, but had not yet arrived. It was reported that traffic in the area is difficult.
