FCPD: suspected of fatal fall and run accident crashes arrested

The local law enforcement authorities arrested a man who was accused of beating and killing a woman in an accident at the beginning of this year.

The 42 -year -old Reginald Brown from Fairfax was arrested last Wednesday (April 23) and met for a crime that is due to the fatal accident of January 29, the police authority from Fairfax County said.

Around 8:30 p.m. that day, a driver of a black Chevrolet suburb hit the 33-year-old Erica Tibbs and her 5-year-old child when they tried to cross the Richmond Highway (Route 1) near the Buckman Road intersection in Hybla Valley.

The two victims were not on the crosswalk when they were hit by the SUV, which was given up “a short distance” by his driver, the FCPD said before.

Tibbs, a resident of Alexandria, was declared dead in a local hospital. Her 5-year-old son was in a stable state after the crash, but needed stitches, reported NBC4.

Family and friends honored Tibbs with a vigil in February, and according to an obituary on February 28, she was laid on the Bethel Cemetery in Alexandria.

The FCPD did not give any details about how Brown was identified as a suspected driver in the crash, but said in a press release that Detective had found him with the help of the fleeting tracking and concerns of concerns.

It is in custody in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond, the police said.

The drivers in Virginia must “provide an appropriate help for an appropriate person in such an accident, including the granting of such an injured person to a doctor, a surgeon or a hospital if it turns out that medical treatment is necessary,” said the law.

Tibbs was the first pedestrian to be hit and killed by a vehicle on the street Fairfax County in 2025. To date (Tuesday), this number has grown to three, with fatal crashes on the Centerville Road near Herndon and Route 29 in Idylwood.
