Parts of West Alabama under heavy thunderstorm clock

The National Weather Service published a severe storm guard for parts of West Alabama this evening. The National Weather Service says an overview of the weather system:

“A fault will trigger a disturbance in the northern parts of Central -Alabama later in the evening.”

The NWS also said that some of the storms could be serious, with harmful winds and great hail.

For parts of our reporting area in West Alabama, the threat will move to the east this evening.

Fayette County, Lamar County and Walker County are at risk from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lamar County and parts of Fayette County and Walker County are at a risk of the two levels, with the rest of our area a risk of level 1 later in the evening.

Pickens County, Tuscaloosa County, Greene County, Hale County, Perry County and Bibb County are at a risk of level one tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In addition, a severe thunderstorm was issued for the following counties in our region until 10:00 p.m. on May 8th:

Lamar County

Fayette County

Walker County
