Wisconsin Watch is looking for experienced Statehouse reporters

Wisconsin Watch, a non -profit newsroom that uses journalism to make the communities of Wisconsin Stark, informed and connected, is looking for a high -ranking reporter who heads the reporting on the state government of our newsroom government.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation of regular reporting on the politics and politics of the state government with a premium to explain the effects on the public and how citizens can remain responsible for their government. The reporting includes regular stories that provide a context and deepen the understanding of the activities of the state government, explain which representatives of the state are available for areas of the state without Capitol reporting, and provide investigative and explaining solutions with great effect. A first -class candidate will already have a supporter on social media and will conveniently discuss the policy of Wisconsin on radio, television and podcasts and in other web -based formats. Our goal is to provide people important news and knowledge of the state government through their preferred format and their channels, regardless of whether this is common social videos, precise newsletter or convincing stories.

Tasks

The Statehouse reporter becomes:

• Create weekly news and analysis content for the Monday newsletter.
• Create content investigations that examine social problems and examine solutions.
• Take part in weekly planning meetings to create short and long-term reporting plans.
• Mentor interns and other reporters from the state government report.
• Activate the opportunity to exchange reporting with media partners.
• Report to the state publisher Matthew Defour as part of a team with two other reporters and interns.

Required qualifications: The ideal candidate will bring about a thinking of the public service and a proven commitment to impartial journalism -Thik, including a commitment to the ethics policy of Wisconsin Watch.

In particular, we are looking for a reporter who:

• Has dealt with the government and showed the ability to develop sources, find important stories and to inform the public about what their elected representatives intended.
• Bring a nimble, innovative way of thinking with – Wisconsin Watch explores the limits of non -profit journalism, and we want to bring reporters who can bring ideas about how we can expand our audience and provide the people they need the most.
• Is obliged to determine non-partisan reporting that focus on the identification of problems and best practice solutions.

Key bonus capabilities:

Location: The reporter will be based in Madison with desks in the Capitol Press Room and in our Wisconsin Newsroom in Madison.

Salary and advantages: The annual salary range is $ 60,000 to $ 80,000. The advantages include five weeks of vacation; Paid illness vacation as well as family and care holidays; 75% reimbursement for silver-animal health and dental insurance in federal exchange; 100% visual insurance protection; 100 USD per salary check for automatic employer contribution to a 403 (b) retirement plan (no match required).

The final offer amounts take into account several factors carefully and higher remuneration can be available for someone with advanced skills and/or experience.
