The police chief of Vicksburg has the latest increase in violent crime in young adults recently

Vicksburg, Miss. (WLBT) – Youth crimes not only escalate in big cities. With just more than 20,000 inhabitants, Vicksburg feels the main load, with most criminals being young people.

The past week in the river city was plagued by shots, with young adults pulling the trigger. The police in Vicksburg recently recorded young people, and recently the chief of police at the scene of a violent incident with three young women.

“I went to the area in which I heard the shot and I saw where a woman was shot,” said Chief Penny Jones.

While the 26-year-old legal officer celebrated a friend's working day at Superior Crab, a shot was fired in the Frauenbad. It was Cinco de Mayo and the restaurant was full of people. In the toilet, Jones found a woman with a gunshot wound on her leg.

“Only days earlier, the same three women had an argument in another place,” said Jones. “So it just got out of control as soon as there was a superior crab.”

Lekeisha Henderson and Taira Moore were arrested in the parking lot. They are charged with serious bodily harm. The victim, Jamesha Montgomery, is also charged.

On Sunday, May 4th, 66 shots broke out at the Citgo petrol station. The police were notified when the victim was taken to the hospital. After collecting information, a suspect was identified. The twenty -six -year -old Demarcus Bishop came up with serious assault.

“In conversation with the victim, it was a persistent dispute between the two about some female problems years ago,” said Jones.

The 23-year-old Decorian Williams is also charged with serious bodily harm from a shot on April 27 in the Arcadia Street.

According to Vicksburg's top policeman, the majority of the services participate in young people from 16 to 22 years. The 26-year-old legal officer says that the parents have to teach their children directly from false.

“Now they have parents that the word is almost as if they are to tell them, Hey, it is the end of the world,” added the boss. “So until we now tell our children and take responsibility for knowing that they can and can do these things, we will continue to have these problems.”

So far, the Vicksburg police have examined a murder this year. Jones said there were four murders in the city in 2024 and three in 2023.
