Trump selects Fox News' Jeanine Pirro as Washington DC public prosecutor

US President Donald Trump has appointed Fox News moderator and former New York public prosecutor Jeanine Pirro as a preliminary US lawyer for Washington DC.

The announcement takes place after Trump has withdrawn his first choice for the job after losing the most important support of the Republicans in the Senate, which is right about such positions.

After Trump's loss of 2020 against Joe Biden, Pirro made false statements about the choice that was part of a lawsuit against Fox News from a company that makes coordination equipment. The case was decided with more than $ 787 million (GBP 594 million).

Trump described Pirro in a social media post “a mighty crusader for victims of crime”, in which he announced his selection.

The president did not state whether the 73 -year -old Pirro would serve in the job permanently, which requires confirmation of the Senate or how long its season would take.

In the Truth Social Post on Thursday evening, Trump found that she previously worked as a Republican district prosecutor in the West Chest, New York, and as a judge. He also advertised her roles in various shows in Fox News, which he described as “one of the best rated shows on television”.

Pirro has been a close ally of Trump for decades. In one of his last acts in his first term, Trump spent her husband, who had been convicted of tax evasion decades earlier, a forgiveness.

Pirro replaces the current preliminary US lawyer Ed Martin, a former conservative podcaster that Trump appointed in January.

He was replaced after North Carolina's Republican Senator, Thom Tillis, said an important swing vote, said that he was refused Martin to constantly confirm Martin for the role, and said “friction” about how Martin looked at the unrest on January 6th in the US capital.

Tillis told reporters this week that he “had no tolerance for someone who entered the building on January 6th”.

Martin was a convinced critic of the examination of the Capitol upright. While in the meantime he served in the role, he released prosecutors who supervised the cases of rioters.

Trump said Martin said in the US Justice Ministry and acting as director of the “Weapons Working Group” who deals with civil servants who examined Trump, said the President in another contribution on social media.

Since taking office, Trump has issued pardon and ended the law enforcement against rioters on January 6th, who stormed the US Capitol to block Biden's election against Trump in the 2020 elections.
