Higher seeds remain perfect with the CCIW baseball championship

Bloomington, sick. -The two best seeds of the baseball championship of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) -illinois Wesleyan and North Central-Stehren in the tournament game on Thursday unbeaten to fill a meeting between the two teams on Friday afternoon. Carthage scored a 9-0 victory against Millikin late Thursday to eliminate the big blue from the tournament.
Game 3: #1 Illinois Wesleyan Def. #4 Millikin, 4-3

Matt Hudiks RBi-Single in the lower edge of the sixth inner end ended a three-run rally by Illinois Wesleyan and proved to be the winner for the titans in their 4: 3 victory against Millikin.
Hudik, who also doubled and finally scored in the first inn, started John Philip Ferraro to run the IWU attack with two hits each.
Millikin was 1-0 in front of the hosts thanks to a third inn. Tyler Gade had the score 1-1 with a single of the runs in front of Ty Cribbett, which hit a two-run single into the midfield for a 3-1 advantage.

North Central developed a 3-0 lead in the middle game of the schedule on Thursday and then held a ninth Carthage rally to beat the Firebirds 3-2.
John Michael Scumaci had two of the three goals from the cardinals. Jackson Bland achieved a double for run scoring in the sixth inning. Chris Rogers got the first 24 outs of the game on the hill and won his third win. Payton Diaz saved the game – his eighth place.
NCC rose to the board with an RBI field player in the second page and then doubled the advantage to 2-0 in third place at Scumaci's RBI goal in the right field. The RBI double from Bland in the sixth drove the NCC lead to 3-0.
A northern central mistake made it possible to get to the top of the ninth table. Christian Duarte followed with an RBI single to lower the deficit to 3: 2, but North Central Center Field Caleb Coberley lowered the binding run with an outdoor field aid on the plate to get the lead. Diaz induced a flyout to secure NCC's victory.

Carthage scored a total of seven goals in the game – all singles. Brendan Roberts threw a complete game, made 8.0 innings and only allowed two deserved runs. He struck five.



Game 5: #3 carthage def. #4 millikin, 9-0
CCIW Pitcher of the year Ryan Scanlon excluded 11 rackets and only went for a complete shutout victory for the Firebirds. He only scored five goals in his seventh win of the campaign.


PJ Moser ended the game with three goals, including one of two CC doubles. Matt Felber wiped two pockets and drove in three runs, including RBI singles in the third and sixth innings.


The Firebirds scored in six of the nine inning races and slowly built a lead for Scanlon, who finally sent Carthago for the third day of the tournament.
