On Jesus as a Redeemer, not Superman

In a further reference to the grievances of today's world, Leo said: “Even today there are many contexts in which Jesus, although it was valued as a man, is reduced to a kind of charismatic leader or superman.”

“This applies not only to unbelievers, but also to many baptismal bodies, which therefore live in a state of practical atheism at this level. This is the world that has been entrusted to us, a world in which, as Pope Francis, we taught us the joyful faith in Christ.”

When he is called by God to make the Church an “ark of salvation”

Leo told the cardinals that he was called by God to become a Pope in order to be a “loyal administrator” for the Catholic Church.

“He did this so that it (the church) can be better and better a city on a hill, a research by the waves of history and a beacon that illuminates the nights of this world. And this is not as much through the splendor of their structures or the size of their members – like the monuments in which we are, but rather through the wooden parts of their members.”
