The United States stops monitoring violent crimes against trans people

According to reports, the US government is planning to terminate the surveillance of violence against trans people in its latest trans -deletion.

In April, the documents leaked through showed that the Federal Bureau of Justice Statistics, an arm of the Ministry of Justice (DOJ), has removed questions about gender identity from federal surveys on violence in the United States.

Although trans-people experience violence statistically more frequently, the documents that contribute to the details and statistics of violent crimes in the USA have a number of questions relating or relating to transpo- or non-binary people.

A question in which the details of the “gender of the victim assigned at birth” were asked was changed to remove any trans-inclusive speech, while another question was completely removed.

It is part of a continued attempt by the Trump government to delete trans-people from public records and to cancel all federal protective measures in relation to transpo- or non-binary citizens.

In January, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order in which he prompted the US government to only recognize two genders -male and female.

Since then, public authorities in the United States have started to implement guidelines that systematically carry out every mention of transcoors from official documents or public records.

Removal of questions of transcopular crime “devastating” experts say

According to the appeal, the DOJ lawsuit has pursued by changes in at least four federal polls, including the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), the addition of school crime, the survey on sexual victimization (SSV) and the survey among inmates in local prisons (Silj).

The step was described as “devastating” by the Williams Institute of Ucla Senior Scholar for Public Order and Sexual Orientation, Ilan Meyer and added that this would drastically prohibit our “understanding of the health and well -being of the LGBT populations from LGBT populations”.

“Such data are important in order to determine the political goals for interventions. By removing sexual orientation and data on the identity of gender, political decision -makers, researchers and supporters do not leave any valid information about the victimization of LGBT.”

Experts have also warned that the revisions will make it more difficult to monitor the effects on LGBTQ+ young people, especially those in youth facilities, who are disproportionately victims of violence and abuse.

Linda McFarlane, Executive Director of Just Detention International, told the complaint that statistics are already shaky because trans children report abuse. The statistics that organizations have contributed to creating a “formal recording” in order to understand the spread of violence in the United States.

“Now the government is turning their back on these children and doing this under the cover of darkness, without a chance of public comments,” she said.
