Hawks' Risacher NBA Rooke of Year Finalist

The San Antonio Spurs may see themselves on Rookie of the Year winners' back theory.

After Victor Wembanyama received all the votes in first place last year, Spurs Guard Stephon Castle is one of three finalists for the Rookie Award this season. The winner will be announced on Tuesday shortly after 7 p.m. EdT on TNT.

The other finalists are Zaccharia Risacher from Atlanta – The No. 1 election in the head of last year – and Jaylen Wells from Memphis.

If Castle wins, it would mark the second time in more than half a century that a franchise with the top rookie apprenticeship was in a row. Minnesotas Andrew Wiggins (now from Miami) and Karl-Anthony Town (now from New York) were elected in 2015 and 2016 as new in the year.

The last time a team went in a row was in 1973 and 1974 when Bob Mcadoo and Ernie Digregorio pulled it out for the Buffalo Braves.

Castle led all newcomers to points (1,190) and steals (74) this season. Risacher ended the strong and gorge of East Conference rookie of the month for both February and for March. Wells led all newcomers to the games (74) and 3-pointers (138).

Should Risacher – who comes from France like Wembanyama, would be the first time that international players have won in consecutive years since Australia Ben Simmons and Slovenia Luka Doncic in 2018 and 2019.

Wells offers Memphis' first rookie of the year since yes Morant in 2020.

The Rookie of the Year Award was coordinated by a global committee of 100 writers and transmitters who cover the league shortly after the end of the regular season and hand over ballot papers.

The other awards that were part of this coordination process and have already presented their results: Cleveland Evan Mabley winner of the defender of the year, New York's Jalen Brunson winner of the Clutch player of the year and Boston Payton Pritchhard won the sixth man of the year.

On Wednesday, the most improved player – Cade Cunningham from Detroit, Dyson Daniels from Atlanta or Ivica Zubac will be announced by the Los Angeles Clippers – at 7 p.m. EDT on TNT.

Other awards from the league since the end of the regular season: Stephen Curry des Golden State, the team-mate of the Twyman Stokes team of the year, and Warriors teammate Draymond Green won the Hustle Award.
