New Prairie Bus Crash: The truck driver Shawn Wesly Russell Akison from Romeoville, IL, was charged with the accident, who injured the HS Baseball Team

La Porte County, Ind. (WLS) – A truck driver in the south suburb was charged with an accident in which a baseball team in northwest was injured by Indiana on Thursday afternoon, said the Sheriff of the La Porte County.

It all started when the authorities received reports on a box truck that was ruthlessly driven on Thursday afternoon, the Sheriff office said. A deputy of St. Joseph County tried to pull the box truck near the SR 2 and Timothy Road, but the driver Akison did not stop.

The Sheriff's office said Akison was in a west direction in the USA 20 and approached the intersection Fail Road when he collided with a commercial motor vehicle and two new minibuses from the Prairie United School Corporation.

The minibuses carried new members and coaches of the Prairie High School Baseball teams and trainers who went to a game.

Two coaches and seven students were injured, said the sheriff's office. They were treated on site and some of them were brought to local hospitals.

An athlete was flown from the scene.

The authorities took an acison on site. After being treated in a local hospital, he was taken to La Porte County's prison. It is only recorded in a bond for $ 15,005.
