Cameron Mathison of General Hospital reflects “unique death” that “does not feel real”

Cameron Mathison has gone through an unimaginable trauma in recent years that led him to a “forced chapter” of his life.

After thinking about the loss of his house in Pasadena, he told him Daily Mail: “It is a very unique death. You never expect the home of your children, the home in which you have raised your life, everything. You never expect it. It is really a unique loss that doesn't feel real.

“There are aspects that this type of loss is still surreal every day. They remember something else. Every day,” he added.

“Only recently did I remember my letterman jacket from the high school. Every single piece of my children's life. The Father's Day maps. Mother's Day is just around the corner. Twenty years of mother's day maps for my ex.”

Cameron discussed his many challenges and said: “It is so much emotional challenge than people.

“A life -threatening and a cancer trip and a loss of a parent, a shocking divorce. My dog ​​died. I lost a job. My son has gone through something traumatic and now.”

Cameron and Vanessa, who share the children Lucas (22) and Lelia (18), decided to end their 22-year marriage in 2024 and announced the news in a joint Instagram post in July.

It was: “After 22 years of marriage we made the difficult decision to separate. We enter this new chapter with deep love, friendliness and respect for each other. We thank our hearts for the wonderful years that we shared together.

“Our children were and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will participate in our dedication and love forever. We stay friends and both wish for the best for each other. We appreciate their respect for the privacy of our family during this transition.”

Cameron is now cancer-free, but in 2019 he was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma-a kind of kidney cancer. Months later, his mother Loretta was diagnosed with brain cancer and died in 2021.

His beloved Doberman Red died in December 2023 after a multiple myeloma was diagnosed – a kind of blood cancer.

As he admits that he has gone through some “terrible” times, Cameron seems to be excited to start a new chapter “by Ground Zero”.

He explained: “So my marriage ended quite shockingly. My children moved to college. My house burned down. Of course everything is terrible.

“But it is also as if I can create this next chapter from Ground Zero. Well, that's a strange word from a level competitive area.”
