Ajinkya Rahane suffers from hand injuries in the victory over Delhi Capitals

Ajinkya Rahane will be rated by the medical staff of Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury he suffered on his right hand when he collected his team against Delhi Capitals in the 14-leg victory of his team.

Rahane, the captain of KKR, was briefly covered when he was hit by a ball from FAF du Plessis by the bowling by Andre Russell. The ball was distracted for a single towards the middle, and Rahane immediately started to get off the field to receive medical help.

He did not return to the field for the rest of the game and had strapped his hand heavily. With Venkatesh Iyer, Rahane's Vice-Captain, Sunil Narine, KKRS Impact player, was replaced by the game from the game, and led the team for the last nine overs of their bowling inside.

At the presentation after the game, Rahane played the extent of the injury. “Not bad,” he said. “I'm fine. I'm fine.” A KKR spokesman told ESPNcricinfo that the first assessment is that the injury is not serious, but that he was checked by physiotherapist Prasanth Panchada on Wednesday morning.

Rahane said that Narine's last over – in which he was released that Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs and Du Plessis were released. “204 on this winding was good, but I thought we were honestly 15 runs too short. We were really good as a striking unit. But again they chase 204, they know as a field team, they are one or two gates away and that happened.

KKR sits from her first 10 games with nine points, but Rahane said that his team could take confidence from the memory of their late run to the play-offs in 2021. “It was always the conversation when we are not doing well,” he said. “But here too it is in the past. It is important for us to stay at the moment, to take the trust of this game and to go forward.”
