Community mourns the same time for teenagers

Dana Point, CA official on Wednesday, published the name of a 16-year-old driver who was killed in an accident in Dana Point, in which several other teenagers were injured.

According to SGT, the victim was identified as Rebecca Cespedes by Dana Point. Gerard McCann from the Sheriff department of Orange County. She was behind the wheel of a pickup that was short of noon on Tuesday on Tuesday at Dana Point Harbor Drive near Iceland, McCann said.

The driver was declared dead at the crime scene and her five passengers – all students of the Dana Hills High School – were taken to a hospital in the region, said McCann.

A girl and two boys were hospitalized in a critical condition. Two other teenagers, a boy and a girl, suffered minor injuries, said McCann.

“With profound sadness, I share a car accident with six Dana Hills students yesterday,” said Brittany Casey, headmistress of Dana Hills High School. “I am deeply sad to report that one of our students died from the crash and that our other five were brought to nearby hospitals with injuries.”

The Orange County Register reported that a monument to flowers and candles near the crash in Dana Point Harbor spread this week.

In the tribute, candles, colorful flowers and pictures of the 16-year-old “Becca” decorated the grass-covered lawn according to the report.
