The 25-year-old pregnant driver dies in the fall of San Jose: CHP

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 25-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child died on Thursday evening in a two-car accident in San Jose.

Two children between the ages of around 2 and 5 were also in the car and, according to CHP officer Ross Lee, were brought to the Valley Medical Center as a precaution. The two children didn't seem to be injured.

The crash was reported at the Interstate 280 north of Bird Avenue to the south at 7:30 p.m.

Lee said that it looks like the pregnant woman who drove a green Honda Civic crossed all the lanes of traffic and fell into a Ford collection.

In doing so, she was ejected on the highway, said Lee.

The crews hurried to help her, but she didn't react, said Lee. She and her fetus died of their injuries, the authorities said.

Lee said it was not known whether alcohol or drug use was factors because the crash is examined.

Everyone with information is asked to contact the CHP San Jose Area Office at (408) 961-0900.
