Trump latest: Press spokesman for the White House asked about the “past of New Papst” to President | US messages

Analysis: Trump fluctuates between speaking and reducing tariffs – but the Chinese do not blink

By James Matthews, US correspondent

Donald Trump is that.

He curved between hard and conciliatory over China – firmly over tariffs and yet to concessions.

We seem to be here now. He speaks over 80% of a reduction of 145% and publishes the truth that “it is up to Scott B”, his finance minister. For him, it is a hospital pass that outsources the obvious incoherency of the previous Trump strategy.

We are in a critical phase of tariff history because it goes beyond rhetoric and the real consequences begin to bite.

Real people will soon get to know the real effects, beyond the striker, in a reduced supply of goods and an increase in their costs.

Donald Trump is under pressure to do it economically and politically correct.

The Chinese did not burn all of this and claim their position that they would not be bullied.

It is Trump, who has changed and was considered unpredictable – it is not strengthened.

The meeting in Geneva this weekend is of course extremely important.

No side plays expectations, with the conversation of the de -escalation being a starting point for constructive discussions.

Both sides are still a bit away, with work, also with Donald Trump's speech of 80%. It would be a strong reduction from which the US tariffs are currently in Chinese goods, but it is still far from what would work for Beijing and for retailers in the USA.
