2 killed in separate accidents in San Juan County

Moab – Two people were killed in separate accidents in San Juan County on Thursday.

The first crash included a motorcycle and occurred shortly after 2 p.m. in the Grand View Point Road near the entrance to the Canyonlands National Park. No further details were available, but the Sheriff office of the San Juan County said that one person died on site.

Shortly after 3 p.m., a vehicle rolled in the Lisbon Valley Road near the Lisbon Valley mine. A first aider came from the mine and initiated life -saving measures, but the driver died of her injuries, said the sheriff's office.

The identity of the deceased was not released because the police worked to notify family members.

“The Sheriff's office in San Juan also wants to remind everyone that they drive around in our district to drive carefully. With the warmer weather, there is an increased number of people on our streets from point A to point B,” says a explanation of the sheriff office.

“We also want to remind everyone, not to drink and drive, to carry their seat belts and to follow the speed limits. Most crashes we react to and serious injuries could be avoided if people follow these three simple rules,” added the agency.
