“She was the last person who deserved to die and especially so,” said Denhotlz.

Denholtz drove all the way from New York to Nocateee to be with his family. He recently found that St. Johns County had already planned a traffic light at the intersection where his mother lost her life. He believes that it could have prevented his mother's death.

“When will that happen?” Denholtz asked: “How many people have to die and suffer, how many families have to be torn apart?”

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash on Wednesday was around 8:00 a.m. The crash report says that Denholtz tried to bend from Pine Island Road to US-1 when an SUV struck it from the left and caused her death. FHP says the driver of the SUV and the driver of the car vehicle of the truck Denholtz after the crash was not seriously injured.

Action News Jax found that St. Johns County from the Florida Ministry of Transport received a scholarship of 2.7 million US dollars to build a traffic light at the intersection. The district tells Action News Jax that it is already being built, but there is no defined date that it is expected to be finished.

Both Denholtz's son and her best friend Ellen Megan believe that the project could have prevented this crash if it had happened in the meantime.

“How many people have to die or be injured or be injured before they do this,” said Megan.

Action News Jax turned to the Florida Highway Patrol and the Sheriff's Office of St. Johns County to request the number of deadly and non-tual accidents that have taken place at the intersection in the past three years. We are still waiting to hear back.

Denholtz is happy that a light is being built, but says that it should have been done earlier.

“I always think of my mother and how fear she could have been,” said Denholtz, “you never believe it will happen to you. I know that people say that, but they don't.”

The Denholtz family tells Action News Jax, who is planned for the next Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. It is said to take place in the Catholic Church of San Sebastian in St. Augustine.
