Firefighter Paramedic Graham Hoffman (29), supposedly stabbed by the patient, whom he transported to the hospital

Kansas City, Mo. – In the officials who called “a senseless action”, a paramedic in Kansas City, Missouri, was fatally stabbed on Sunday – supposedly by a patient that he transported to a hospital.

The 29-year-old firefighter paramedic Graham Hoffman, since 2022, was at the Kansas City fire department.

“In the early Sunday morning, the fireman Hoffman was critically injured after he was stabbed into his chest, pierced his heart and transported a patient to a local hospital, which began as a routine medical call for the police,” said a statement by the city. “His partner immediately initiated a crew emergency.”

He was brought to the North Kansas City Hospital, where he died of his injuries, said fire chief Ross Grundyson.

“KCFD crews tirelessly worked on saving the life of the firefighter on the way to the North Kansas City Hospital,” added the city's explanation. “Life -saving efforts were continued in the emergency room before Graham was brought into the operation. Despite the heroic efforts … Firefighter Hoffman, succumbed to his injuries in the intensive care unit.”

Officials said that the suspect was in custody on Sunday, but did not state any details.

“I expect and will request justice,” said Quinton Lucas, Mayor of Kansas City, at a press conference on Sunday. “I never expected a compulsory death like this.”

“Graham was a committed professional who loved serving his city,” the KCFD posted on Facebook. “He will be missing.”
