Disassembled BRPD

A former Baton Rouge police officer is now working to get his job back after his criminal matters have dropped this week.

Demichael Robertson was released in 2023 after two separate arrests for sex crimes.

“He is innocent and was innocent until he was innocent until he has proven to be guilty, but unfortunately I believe that the accusations, as we know, were innocent, but unfortunately I believe that the former boss found him guilty before he was always guilty and ended him,” said Robertson's lawyer Tommy Dewey.

Robertson was arrested in 2023 on two separate occasions for rape and sexual battery.

The allegations of the sexual battery concerned a four -year -old child.

The rape allegedly occurred a year earlier and the victim only decided to get forward after his arrest. However, she was looking for medical treatment and had a kit for sexual assault done after the alleged attack.

Dewey says that no crime actually happened.

“One of them was a relationship that had a problem with custody, and the other had a very bad factual pattern and didn't stop.”

At the beginning of this week, the public prosecutor's office of the EBR fell this indictment due to a lack of evidence.

“I think that in this case made the right decision to release this indictment because they were unfounded.”

Well, because there is no criminal proceedings, says Dewey, Robertson is entitled to get his job back together with the repayment.

“I spoke to my client. He definitely wants to have his job again. He went through a lot and looks forward to driving his life ahead.”

However, there are questions whether this should happen.

After the arrest and termination of Robertson in 2023, he was involved in a violent argument in front of a bar in which he was shot into the leg.

After an arrest warrant, the fight began after someone recognized him from the news and called him as a child.

Dewey says that there is no problem with the fact that his client returns to law enforcement.

“Again, everyone, including police officers, have the right to be considered innocent until they prove themselves guilty. I have read that I believe that it is called the constitution.”

District Prosecutor Hillar Moore says Robertson has been on the Brady list since his arrest.

The Brady list is a database that is kept by the law enforcement officer that could have credibility problems if they are set up during a negotiation.

Moore does not yet know if it is being removed.
