Video published in Fatal Shooting at Publix in Coral Gables

Coral Gables, Fla. – Franklyn Pineyro's trip to buy lottery cards ended with him near the cash register in Publix in Coral Gables, the police said. He was 50.

Video published on Friday shows the fight between Pineyro and Osmel Lugo-Gutierrez, which preceded the fatal shootings in 2022.

The 51-year-old Lugo-Gutierrez, who played the shootout in self-defense, said Detective that he approached Pineyro from behind when the two were waiting in line.

According to Detectives, the surveillance video Lugo-Gutierrez shows near a shopping cart when Pineyro plunged it with an extended left arm.

Lugo-Gutierrez raised his shirt, pulled a 9 mm glock out of his covenant and fired on Pineyro and, according to the police, hit him into his chest.
