Juvenile killed, 1 more injured when shooting near McDougald Terrace in Durham

Durham, NC (WTVD) – The police are investigating after a young person was killed in a shootout near the McDougald Terrace community in Durham on Friday.

The Durham police said that the officials had replied shortly after 8:30 p.m. on reports on a shootout in the 1200 block of the Dayton Street when the officers found a man and a youthful victim with gunshot wounds.

The young person was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

The police said that the adult victim was also taken to the hospital with non -life -threatening injuries.

A witness said ABC11 that he let several shots come up close, and when he came closer, he said that he had seen two people who were on site were helped by emergency officials.

“It is not the residents here, they are people who shoot here,” said witness Jontae Dunston. “Sitting out here and having the children out here and getting someone here and being chaotic in our community. And put our children in danger. When will it stop?”

The authorities said that the shootout seems to be isolated and that the community does not give a threat.
