Family requests for thorough examinations of the GBI in Skyler Black's death

Macon County, Ga. – Family members of Skyler Black are looking for answers to the examination of his death after his body was found in the Flint River a month after reporting as missing. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) stated that there are no new updates, but give an explanation when there are developments.

The grandmother of Skyler Black, Gloria Kelley, was frustrated about dealing with the case, in particular with the initial search efforts led by Macon County's former interim hershers. “He called the search too early. You are only looking for a day and a half or a day and three quarters,” she said.

Kelley also emphasized discrepancies in the investigation, including the confusion about whether Black's body was found in the forest or in the river. From Friday, the GBI website still explained that the body is near the Crooks Landing Road, but the family says that the body was found many miles north in an area that is difficult to walk on foot.

Kelley made the search further difficult and found that the law enforcement authorities identified black as girls and possibly influenced the sightings. Kelley claimed that someone saw her grandson in Marshallville about ten days after his report. “I tried to tell the sheriff and the GBI that if you go on the highway 127 and ask this guy, some answers. But they won't do anything,” she said. “And that has to be explained – why?”

Kelley asked the GBI to be more proactive in her survey.

“You won't get anything if you just go up there and say: 'Have you seen this guy?' And now he says no, “she said.
