Cardinal Robert Prevost became the first American Pope on Thursday. Prevost, 69, comes from Chicago. He chose Leo XIV as his papal name.

After some initial confusion, Prevost was confirmed by his brother as a White Sox fanJohn. He is not a Cubs fan. In fact, Prevost is such a big white SOX fan that he was in game 1 of the World Series 2005 in today's Rate Field. Prevost appeared in the stands during a ninth inning audience:

Just think that the Pope could have some hot takes for Scott Podsednik and Joe Crede. Hopefully this will mean that Prevost eventually throws away the ceremonial first playing field in full Pope robe with a white SOX game.

The apparent white SOX FEDOM of the new Pope marks the latest chapter in an interesting story between the baseball game and the Catholic Church. Several popes have kept in masses in the MLB stadiums with the Yankee Stadium, the Shea Stadium, the Dodger Stadium, the Candlestick Park, the Camden Yards and Nationals Park under the parks that have welcomed its holiness over the years.
