Athletics championships by Bergen County 2025: Day 1 highlights

Hasbroock Heights – In the past 70 years, the genes “Red” Littler Bergen County Championships have presented some of the best athletes and moments in New Jersey Athletics.

Three months after the first placement of the 400-meter division B on the 400-meter-dash, Jadan Marchan, graduate of the Leonia High School, with Trinidad and Tobago at the 2024 Olympic Games in the 4×400-meter relay. In the 2022 championship, Harvard Freshman and Alum School Abigail Dennis led the old Tappan High School a wonderful comeback after falling over the second hurdle to win the second heat of the 100-meter hurdles of Division B, and later won the final by more than a second.

Here are some of the best performances and moments from the Divisions C&D on the first day of the mountains County Championship in Deepken Field from Hasbrouck Heights:

Giorgio Bruttini

Ramsey in the second year, Division C 400H

As Indian Hills Senior and 2025 County Pentathlon Champion Maximus Daniels have come to a result for the 400 hurdles of the boys. Daniels wins. It was only in the NJSiaa Group 2 & 3 3 -championship 2024 that he is not ahead in this race last season.

But Daniels was not there in the last heat of the first day. He was in the long jump pit, where he won his division by more than one foot. In his absence, Bruttini rose.

He has won quietly on his braves on the ground, but has exceeded the line in front of him at every chance. A 57.38 second sequence in the Big North Patriot-2.1 seconds faster than his previous best-WAR.

But this time Bruttini Daniels didn't see next to him and the boy took advantage of it. When he crossed the 100-meter brand, Bruttini began to move away from the field. In the last 100 meters it was only the black route from Rams Star and Hasbrouck Heights when it was over three seconds faster than the rest of Division C in the personal best.

“If you look at the world record and all state records [holders]They really keep the shape, “said Bruttini.” They only lose a second between their normal shape and their 400 hurdles. Making the shape better is the best. “

Jenna Monaco

Dumont Junior, Division C 100 m and long jump

Jenna Monaco's athletics career is embroidered in first place with medals. The junior entered the mountains County Championship and has collected a gold medal 68 times in sprints, hurdles, pole vault and long jump. This day was no different.

Monaco was the only girl under 13 seconds both in the exams and in the final when she drove to the 100-meter title for the second week in a row. After 12.77 in the experiments, she started quickly and blew the field to win from her personal best in a time of 12.66 – 0.07 seconds.

“I've had sprints since my first year,” said Monaco. “This is the first thing I did and then I leaned into the other events, but it was my starter, so I have a love.

Monaco was in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet, four inches to close her day. The incumbent State Group 2 High hurdles and the Pole Vault Champion of Group 1 in Group 1 will compete on the second day.

Michael Napolitano/Ryan Ober

Hasbrouck Heights, Division D 400m

Neck-and-neck surfaces should be tense. Both competitors are not ready to give and be ready. But it meant more for Hasbrouck Heights' teammate Michael Napolitano and Ryan Ober when they faced each other at the 400 meters.

“We had a bet inside around the (400 meters),” said Napolitano. “I struck him there and then he said twice or nothing. Beat him here again.”

Both took care of business in the 100-meter race and 400 hurdles before their showdown.

First of all, Sacred Heart commit was complete control. After the 200-meter brand, the senior built a significant lead against Napolitano. Suddenly the junior sneaked behind Obers and passed it at 10 meters to win the title. It was the first time that Oberer saw Napolitano during the race

“My plan was hard to go out in the first 200 and hopefully capture at the end of the race,” said Obers. “But it didn't work.”

Napolitano crossed the line with 50.45 seconds, while Obert ended with 50.60 seconds behind. Both times were personal best.
