No. 12 Tennessee Baseball (35-9, 13-8 sec) will fight on Tuesday in a competition of the week in Knoxville against the Nordkentucky Norse (24-18, 12-9 Horizon League).

The first pitch in the Lindsey Nelson Stadium takes place in the Sec Network +at 6:00 p.m.

Tennessee will compete on Tuesday at the competition, which will be canceled in Baton Rouge against the LSU defeat against the LSU. The Vols wasted a 3-0 lead on the Ninth Inning on Friday to lose the first game, dominated in a 9: 3 victory in game two and was then blown out in a Sunday rubber game.

Defensive Miscues from Dean Curley ultimately cost Tennessee's kick -off, and the Bullpen of the Vols had a terrible day that led to LSU the Vols in eight Innerings. The defeat on Sunday negated all the good atmosphere that followed the Vols Game Two victory, in which Marcus Phillips and the offensive reduced six runs in the eighth inn.

Ranking lists: Where Tennessee Baseball ends up in rankings after a series loss against LSU

Before a weekend series against No. 10 Auburn in Knoxville, Tennessee will step down against Northern Kentucky. All three remaining series from Tennessee are against top 15 teams.

Opponent Scout

Northern Kentucky should be known. The Norse was regional in the NCAA Knoxville in 2024 and lost the first game to Tennessee.

Nordkentucky has had an expiry and expiry season so far. The Norse only played two Power 4 teams this season and drove to Louisville in Seven Innings and dropped to Indiana with 13:11 at the beginning of the season.

Etsu is a common opponent between the Vols and Nordkentucky. The Norse opened their season against the Bucs and were swept in a series with three games.

Head coach Dizzy Peyton's fourth team in Nordkentucky has no pre-season all conference selection, but was selected to take the 2nd place in the Horizon League, where they are currently in the overall ranking.

Tennessee should handle the business on Tuesday evening, but I would not expect them to be beaten up.

Notes for injuries/availability
  • In the second game against Kentucky a foul ball unfortunately met Tennessee Relief Pitcher Tanner Wiggins in the mouth. Tony Vitello said there were teeth that were involved in Wiggins' injury, and the second year was operated on his jaw at the weekend.
    • Read more about the Wiggins status here.
  • Brayden Krenzel returns to the hill due to an absence of several weeks due to an illness.
  • UNC Transfer First Baseman Alberto Osuna does not remain eligible.
    • But on Monday Osuna again took legal measures that were still justified. Read more here.
