Pete Hegseth says he will end a Pentagon program for women supported with Trump

Washington – Defense Minister Pete Hegseth said on Tuesday that he would end a program of the Department of Defense for women who were created and promoted during the first Trump administration.

The draft law, which sets up the program for women, peace and security (WPS)-wide effort in the diplomatic and national security rooms to expand the possibilities for women's sowing by Kristi Noem, secretary of the home protection authority, when she worked in the house and worked by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio when he worked in the Senate.

“WPS is a further bright initiative for the splitting/social justice/bidges that distract our commanders and troops from our core task: war fights,” wrote Hegseth, who has been under fire because they have said that women should not hold fighting roles. He added that the program, which in the congress had broad party support, “was pushed by feminists and left -wing activists”.

Although he explained that he ended the program, Hegseth said that the department had to carry out the “minimum of legally required WPS” and then “end the program for our next budget”.

“Good puzzles WPS!” he said.

Trump signed the law of women, peace and security in the law in 2017 and steered the departments of the state, defense and home protection.

Noem had written a version of the law this year when it was in the house that South Dakota represented. In the previous congress in 2016, she wrote that the legislation “ensures that women have a place at the table during peace negotiations through a sensible supervision of the congress”. After it was adopted by the house in 2017, the then spokesman Paul Ryan, R-WIS.

In 2019, the first Trump administration published a more formal strategy with more specific instructions to further fulfill the goals of the WPS, and according to Trump White House, “to promote the sensible inclusion of women in processes, reduction, determination and recovery of fatal conflicts or disasters”. Trump even advertised the initiative on his website for the 2024 presidential campaign, on which he listed his achievements, the women benefit.

Rubio has recently emphasized the legislation, which created the efforts during an event in the Foreign Ministry at the beginning of this month at the event of First Lady Melania Trump.

“President Trump also signed the law on women, peace and safety regulations, a law on which I was very proud to be a co-sponsor when I was in the Senate, and it was the first comprehensive law that was adopted in every country in the world the first law that was adopted by every country all over the world-which focused on protecting women and promoting their participation in society,” said Rubio.

Neither Noem nor Rubio said they plan to end the WPS efforts at DHS or in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

When the Pentagon reached for a comment, he pointed out on Hegseth's former tweet to end the program.

DHS, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the White House did not immediately respond to inquiries about comments on Tuesday.
