20 killed, 50 in the drone strike against the prison in W. Sudan: Gov't

Twenty inmates were killed and 50 more injured in a drone strike against a central prison in El Obeid in the northern Cordofanian state of North Cordo on Saturday, the Sudanese government shared in a statement, News.AZ, reports that Xinhua was reported.

The government spokesman Khalid Ali Aeisir, who is spokesman for the dead and injured inmates, accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to have started the “Terrorist Act” on Saturday morning.

It was “a full-fledged war crime that increases the long records of the militia against Sudanese civilians,” said the spokesman, adding that the RSF also carried out a drone attack against EL-OBEID Hospital on Saturday morning.

In the past, a medical source in the El-Adeid Hospital, which requested anonymity, shared Xinhua that the hospital had received 19 corpses and 45 injuries from the drone strike to prison and that “the number of victims is expected”.

An eyewitness near the prison building said Xinhua that “three drones in prison had launched about five rockets, about three of which directly beat the building and the living rooms of the occupants.”

The RSF recently strengthened its drone attacks at military sites and important facilities in areas that are controlled by the Sudanese armed forces (SAF), including EL Obid.

The Sudan has been involved in a devastating conflict between SAF and the RSF since mid -April 2023, which claims tens of thousands of human life, although the exact tribute cannot be checked. The International Organization for Migration estimated that over 15 million people were sold in both Sudan and abroad.
