Eight people were injured after an accident with two vehicles led to an SUV on Friday evening in Mchenry County to lead to serious damage to Interstate 90, the authorities said.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) and the Hampshire Fire Protection District reacted to Interstate 90 near Mile Marker 39, south of Marengo, for a report on a vehicle accident at around 11:53 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and found an accident with two vehicles with serious damage and a vehicle rolled, said firefighters.

The incident occurred in the western lanes east of the Getty Road.

The Pingree Grove, Burlington, Huntley and Genoa Fire Defulents were called on site to help.

A total of eight people occupied the two vehicles and everyone was treated at the scene, said firefighters.

One of the eight was transported to the Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment.

An ISP spokesman said that a preliminary investigation showed that the two vehicles, a white Infiniti QX56 and a black Toyota Camry, traveled west on the Interstate 90.

The two cars were on the left lane when the infiniti met the back of the Toyota and the infiniti lost control.

According to ISP, the Infiniti rolled onto his roof and blocked the left lane. A passenger in the infiniti was the victim who was hospitalized.

The two left lanes were closed for a short time for the examination and for tow trucks for both cars, said ISP.

The cause of the crash is still investigated by Illinois State Police.
